Q: Does my online listing expire after a certain number of months, or can I keep it on your website for as long as I like?

A: AreaByOwner.com would like to make it simple by letting you keep your online listing active for as long as you like. Just pay the one-time fee for your AreaByOwner.com online listing and yard sign, and your home is available on the website until it is sold or you determine that you would no longer like it listed. There are no recurring or monthly fees associated with your web listing.

Q: Do I need to pay a commission after my home sells?

Q: Will I get yard signs with my online listing?

A: Yes. All "for sale by owner" online listings come with one 18" x 24" AreaByOwner.com yard sign with mounting stake. Our durable signs are all-weather corrugated plastic and can be easily customized with your phone number or street address. The sturdy wire frame can also be used to hold an information tube or brochure holder with your home's flyers or spec sheets.

Q: My home is located outside of Northeast Wisconsin.  Can I still have it listed on your website?

A: Of course you may list your home or property for sale by owner on our website. Since we are located in Green Bay, we simply focus our marketing on Northeast Wisconsin.  But we do offer website listings to anyone in Wisconsin or any other state in the United States.  As an complimentary service to our sellers, all FSBO home and property listings are featured on our partner websites to provide you with additional nationwide exposure on the web.

Q: Do you have directional signs with arrows available as well?

A: Yes. Our full size, 18" x 24" AreaByOwner.com directional signs (yes... with arrows!) are available for purchase when you signup for your FSBO web listing.  Just let us know how many you would like included with your order.  They can be easily customized with your street address to help buyers find your home more easily.

Q: Can I print flyers for use at my open houses or to place with my yard sign?

A: You may print as many flyers as you like from your listing or our Members area. Our flyers feature a photo of your home, upcoming open houses, property features, asking price, your detailed description, and a direct website link (e.g. www.AreaByOwner.com/1234). If you need an "Information Tube" to hold your flyers, you can normally pick one up at a local home improvement store or purchase it online.

Q: Do you allow land, lots, acreage, and other property for sale by owner to be listed on your website? Many other websites seem to favor just homes.

A: Yes.  Both homes for sale by owner and all types of property for sale including land, lots, and acreage for sale by owner may be listed on the website. We realize that many buyers that visit our website might only be interested in searching for land for sale, and want to be able to easily find these listings.  AreaByOwner.com has added a section dedicated to easily finding land, lots, acreage, and other property for sale by owner. By not lumping all of our listings into one big pile, it makes it easier for users of the site to find the "for sale by owner" home or property they are looking for. This new feature also benefits sellers of land, lots, and acreage since their property gets the dedicated exposure it deserves.

Q: I have never thought of selling a home without a real estate agent. Will I be able to sell my home myself?

A: Yes. This is a common concern of most people who sell their home themselves.  To help you understand the home selling process you may want to start with our Step-By-Step Sellers Guide. It has some great information on the basics of "for sale by owner" home selling.

Q: I would like to add photos to my listing, but don't know how to resize or edit them. Do I need to get some kind of special software?

A: If you have digital photos of your home or property that are saved on your computer, you are halfway there. When submitting your home or after it is already listed, just upload your photos by "finding" them on your computer and we will take care of the rest. Your 15+ photos will be resized when you upload them to display properly on the website in 3 different sizes (small, large, and zoom).

Q: Can I tell how many buyers have viewed my online listing?

A: Yes. To view how many hits you have to your online listing, you can sign in to your Member account and view this number. You may also make updates to your home or property listing 24/7 from the Members area.

Q: I would like to place an ad for my home in my local newspaper.  Can I include a website link that takes buyers directly to my online listing?

A: Yes. Advertising your home for sale in the newspaper and other traditional media is a great idea for additional exposure! We offer a "quick link" that you can use to easily direct potential buyers to your AreaByOwner.com web listing so users don't have to search for it (e.g. www.AreaByOwner.com/1234). Your direct website link will also be printed on your flyers for you automatically.

Q: Can I place my directional "for sale" signs on public property such as boulevards and medians? Or will my signs get taken away?

A: You may want to check first with your local municipality and ask about specific rules and guidelines for signs. Most cities and villages are willing to allow you to place signs on public areas as long as no one complains. Another popular option is to place directional signs on private property provided you ask them first.  Most people are more than willing to let you do so.
